# Benefits Realization

The practice of defining, tracking, and confirming the value an initiative delivers — financial and non-financial — through and after delivery.

Benefits realization ensures the value promised in a business case is actually delivered and measured. It tracks financial and non-financial outcomes over time, often well past go-live, and attributes results back to the work that produced them.

Robust benefits realization depends on traceability: tying outcomes to KPIs, GL codes, and the P&L so an organization can prove which initiatives created value rather than merely assuming they did.

### Commonly confused

Go-live. Benefits are realized when the number moves, often months after the program "finishes" — not when a system launches. In private-equity language this same discipline, at enterprise scale, is value creation.
