# Output

What an initiative produces — a deliverable, feature, system, or report.

An output is the tangible thing an initiative produces: a deliverable, feature, system, report, or process. It is what the delivery team can point to as "done" — the artifact that leaves the factory.

An output is not a result. Shipping the thing is not the same as the thing working: the output only creates value once it drives a change in behavior (an outcome) that in turn produces a measurable improvement (a benefit). Treating a delivered output as the end of the job is the single most common confusion in the language of execution.
