# Value-Creation Plan

The document translating an investment thesis into prioritized initiatives, owners, targets, and timing across the full hold period.

**Acronym:** VCP

A value-creation plan (VCP) is the document that translates a private-equity owner's investment thesis into execution: the prioritized initiatives, named owners, value targets, and timing that will realize the thesis across the entire hold period. It is how a hypothesis about why an asset should be worth more becomes a concrete, owned program of work.

The VCP is often confused with the 100-day plan, which is only its opening sprint — the initial burst of diligence-driven actions immediately after close, not the multi-year plan itself. In operator language, the VCP is the portfolio of prioritized initiatives, or the transformation portfolio and its benefits plan; the value-creation team and the transformation office are working the same document at different altitudes.

### Commonly confused

The 100-day plan, which is only the opening sprint of the VCP, not the plan itself.
