Steering CommitteeSteerCo

The senior group that provides oversight and decision-making for a program, meeting regularly to review progress, risks, and key decisions.

A steering committee (often abbreviated SteerCo) is the governance body of a program: senior stakeholders who set direction, unblock issues, approve gates, and hold delivery accountable. Its meetings are where the most consequential program decisions are made.

Much of a program team’s effort goes into preparing SteerCo materials; generating that reporting directly from live data — rather than rebuilding slide decks by hand — is a major efficiency gain.
