Project Management OfficePMO

The team or function that defines and maintains standards, governance, and reporting for how projects and programs are run across an organization.

A Project Management Office (PMO) — sometimes a Program or Portfolio Management Office — sets the methods, templates, governance, and reporting that project and program teams follow. It provides oversight, drives consistency, and gives leadership a reliable view of delivery.

Modern PMOs increasingly own the link between delivery and strategy, spending less time compiling status by hand and more time on prioritization, governance, and demonstrating the value of the portfolio.
